About

About me…well, I’m 28 and married to my best friend.  We have twin girls that were born on August 5, 2008.  i recently went back to school to take the prereq’s for a nursing program, but with our newborn twins, who knows when I’ll actually be able to finish school.  We have two large dogs – Zeus (pit) and Barnum (rotti mix) and our cat – Stinky.  Our favorite things to do are fishing, wine tasting and growing our veggies during the spring/summer.

I wanted to write a little about my pregnancy and birth – mostly so that I do not forget the experience…So Josh and I found out that we were pregnant on Dec.21, 2007.  I got my wisdom teeth pulled the day before, and secretly knew that I was pregnant.  The girls were concieved on Nov. 29, 2007.  It was our second cycle trying to get pregnant.  On our first appointment at 8 weeks (jan 10, 2008) we found out there were twins.  Josh just kept laughing, and I was in shock.  I was terrified!  We joined MPPOM -mid peninsula parents of multiples, which has been a great resource.  I started feeling the girls move around 17 weeks I think.  April 2, we found out that we were having girls.  Towards the end of May we had a baby shower – but it wasn’t the typical shower.  We had a BBQ in a park and had 40-50 people there – yes, we had women and men!  It turned out great!  No silly games, Josh got to be a part of it, and we all had fun.  As the summer progressed, my belly just kept growing.  I stopped working in early June, and managed to finish the semester in school (ok, so it was only one class, but I was still happy I finished).  The dictir scheduled a day for me to be induced – August 5!  I was sooo nervous.  Both girls were head down, so that was great.  On Monday, August 4, my water broke somewhere between 10 am and noon.  I don’t know when exactly because it was just a trickle, not a huge gush.  I thought maybe I was leaking urine (I know, sounds gross, but that happens during pregnancy).  When Josh got home around 4pm, I was frustrated.  We ate and I eventually called the hospital.  I was supposed to be there 7am the next morning anyway, but they told me to come on in.  I started getting more contractions on our way there.  I was admitted, and when the dr. checked me she said I was 8cm dilated and 80% effaced!!  I called my brother and my mom, and we all waited.  Over ten hours later, after being maxed out on Pitocin and having my other water broken, I was still only 8cm dilated!  By this time everyone was exhausted.  I was shaking a little because I was soooo hungry, and we eventually decided on a c-section.  The girls were born at 7:08 and 7:09 am.  I was terrified during the surgery, but Josh held my hand the entire time.  The doctor said that when she took Tatiana out, she had her hand on her head, and that is why I did not progress – Tatiana was not putting the right amount of pressure on my cervix.  Anyway, Josh left with the girls to the nursery while they sewed me up.  good thing he went with them – they look soooo different that I would have thought one was not mine!!  I spent that first day throwing up water all over myself.  Fun.  Josh had to do everything for those first two days.  It was pretty rough.  We were sooo sleep deprived.  The girls were up at night, and we had visitors during the day – not to mention everyone that had to check on us – the ob, the ped., the nurses, the lactation consultant, the house keeping, the food service, the menu lady, etc.  Ok, now I am too tired to continue, but I will finish as soon as I get the chance…
